CAMERAMOVIE NIGHT! DJC STYLE...

A TIME FOR DRUNKEN HORSES

After their father dies, a family of five are forced to survive on their own in a Kurdish village on the border of Iran and Iraq. Matters are made worse when 12 year old Ayoub, the new head of the family, is told that his handicapped brother, Madi, needs an immediate operation in order to remain alive. A TIME FOR DRUNKEN HORSES This heartbreaking tale shows the lengths to which a family will go in order to survive in the harshest of conditions, where even the horses are fed liquor in order to work. A co-winner of the Caméra d'Or award at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival. Subtitles will be provided for those who don't speak Kurdish.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

THE DJC READING CIRCLE NEEDS VOLUNTEERS!

handsThe DJC Reading Circle is looking for volunteers for our committee.

Because you've always wanted to know what the committee does, here it is! We contact facilitators, choose books, locate venues, and introduce our speakers. And feel good about our contribution!

Not a lot of work for a very valuable part of the DJC.

If interested, please contact Kathy at info@djctoronto.com. She'll pass your name on to us!

Fond of 'friending' on Facebook? Tickled to 'tweet' on Twitter?

If you are a social-networking maven – or someone in your family is – why not help the DJC join the socially-connected sphere! We're looking for a volunteer to help communicate our news and happenings via the various online social media – keeping us 'virtually' in touch with one another, and hopefully 'widening our circle' by getting us out there to friends of our friends.

This would be a great opportunity for a Communications/Marketing major who might be looking for some work experience for their resume. If you, or someone you know, are willing and able to volunteer a small amount of time each month to keeping the DJC current and connected, we'd love to hear from you. All information would be supplied – we just need someone to post it in a timely manner, and keep things 'humming'.

*Please contact: kjbern@sympatico.ca if you can help out.
