DJC High Holydays Food Drive 2020

Your support is needed!

Every year at the time of the high holidays, the DJC launches a FOOD DRIVE to support the Bethany Church Food Bank in our Riverdale ‘neck of the woods’. Before services, we come to Eastminster bearing food offerings and place them in the bins set out in the front lobby so these donations can be delivered to the food bank, not long after the last shofar blast at our concluding Ne’ilah service.

But this year is different… we will gather safely in our homes to participate in our services online over Zoom, and will take our food bank drive online and off-site. These Covid-19 times have made everyone more aware of the great need to support Canada’s food banks in our cities, towns and neighbourhoods.

This year we encourage all DJC members who can to donate online to the Bethany Church Food Bank (instructions are below); and closer to Rosh Hashanah, we’ll let everyone know about two drop-off locations (at member’s front porches) for non-perishable food items. Please help to ensure this year – more than any other year – we are thinking of those who regularly go without and rely on the support of their local food bank(s). And thank you in advance for your generosity!
