DONATE TO THE DJC

We are building for the future, and your generosity makes a difference.

Donating to the DJC supports a progressive, inclusive, and growing Jewish community in downtown Toronto. New resources will help us offer more youth and adult programming, spiritual learning, community activities and lifecycle events. Donations allow the DJC to keep programs accessible through a sliding scale, ensuring no one is turned away due to financial constraints.

Monthly Giving

Predictable monthly income allows the DJC to plan for the long term and maintain vital programs. Making a monthly gift can compound over time into a larger, more impactful total than a single annual gift.

Claudia Bali Education Fund

Claudia Judith Bali, a founding member of the DJC, passed away in July 2018, after a long illness; Claudia represented the heart and soul of the DJC. She co-signed the DJC’s incorporation papers, served on our first Board and was loved and admired for her generosity and courage. Your generous support to her fund will help ensure high-quality education through our Jewish Studies and Bet Mitzvah programs, regardless of families’ financial resources.

Order a Yahrzeit Leaf

Have you been looking for a way to honour a loved one who has passed? For $54, you can purchase a leaf which will be embroidered with your loved one's name and date of death according to both the Hebrew and solar calendars and placed on a tree on one of the beautiful Yahrzeit tapestries that our members have created. We are also able to honour victims of the Holocaust on our Yahrzeit hanging, the leaves on the ground symbolizing that these loved ones fell from the tree of life before their time. You may wish to buy a leaf to remember those you knew personally, those whom you never had a chance to know, or those who have no one left to remember them.

Legacy Giving

Leaving a legacy gift in your will is a simple and meaningful way to ensure our community will be around for generations to come. Whether you choose to leave assets such as stocks or property, a percentage of your estate, or a specific dollar amount, your gift will allow you to significantly contribute to the Danforth Jewish Circle in a way that may not have been possible during your lifetime.

Sponsor a Kiddush and/or a Siddur

Kiddush (post-Shabbat meal) creates a welcoming environment where congregants can gather, relax, and build friendships over a shared bite to eat, turning a service into a community event. ($108)

Sponsoring a Siddur (Jewish prayer book) is a significant way to honour a loved one and participate in a lasting mitzvah. It bridges personal memory and communal prayer, ensuring that worshippers have the tools they need for connection. ($54)

You will receive a charitable tax receipt for your contribution. Official income tax receipts will be emailed in early February for donations made in the previous tax year. The Danforth Jewish Circle is a registered charitable organization (BN/Registration number: 870202660 RR0001).
