A Truly Giving Community

Community is nourishment; and we have never felt so sated. Community kavanot that spoke to our souls, shofar blasts that rung in our ears, golden voices entwined in song, a box filled with our regrets, a re-imagined Ne’ilah service that left us teary and open … and in the midst of it all, a surge of support for sponsoring a Syrian refugee family led by our crusading Social Justice Committee.  We’ve now raised more than $40,000 and we’re still counting.

We’re kvelling over this email we received:

Sent: September 21, 2015Subject:  Cookies for a CauseWant to share that Isaac and Jonah Shore McNab (Jewish studies grade 3 and SK) worked hard selling cookies and lemonade on Kingston Rd. this past Sunday afternoon to raise money for Syrian Refugees.  They collected 123.70 and their parents promised to match whatever they raised, so the boys will be donating $247.40 to DJC efforts for Syrian Refugees.Regards,Proud Parents

Thank you, Isaac and Jonah!

If you haven’t yet, please consider donating today to help sponsor a Syrian refugee family – and don’t forget to give to the DJCtoo so we can remain strong.

See you all in the Sukkah.
