Federal Election Voting and Shemini Atzeret/ Simchat Torah

The Federal Election on Monday October 21st falls on theJewish Holyday (Yom Tov) of Shemini Atzeret/Simchat Torah.
Any elector can choose to vote in the Advance Polls, without having to prove a special reason to do so. In years past, people used to have to give a reason for voting ahead of election day, but that is no longer a requirement. Come to the Returning Office or go to the Advance Poll with your chosen proof of name and address and you will be able to be processed as electors.
Electors have several options for voting in addition to casting their ballots on Monday, October 21:
Voting by Special Ballot in the Returning Office: The Toronto-Danforth Returning Office at 1220 Dundas St E is open daily, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. Special ballot voting at the office has been simplified to make the voting process more efficient and to minimize the time it takes to cast a ballot. One agent may now add or update information on the list of electors and register electors to vote by special ballot. Electors may vote in any returning office, not just the one for their electoral district. Special Ballot voting closes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15.
Voting during the Advance Polls: There will be four days of Advance Polls, from Friday, October 11, to Monday, October 14. Advance Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Observant Jewish electors may attend on Friday, October 11, and on Sunday, October 13, until sunset. Electors may find their advance polling stations by checking their voter information cards when the cards arrive in the mail, or electors may use the Voter Information Service on the Elections Canada website at elections.ca.
Voting by mail: Special mail-in ballots may be applied for until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 15, and votes cast and received until October 21. Electors may contact the Toronto-Danforth Returning Office at 1-866-714-6437 to make arrangements for a mail-in kit, or they can apply online on the Elections Canada website at elections.ca.
Visit the Elections Canada website (elections.ca) to find your assigned Advance Polling location, determined by their home address. Electors may look up their polling locations by typing their postal codes into the search box on the Elections Canada homepage.
