We’re excited to welcome our new Choir Director, Juliet Palmer.

Reaching beyond boundaries is central to Juliet’s work in Toronto as music director, mentor, facilitator, educator and composer.

“Throughout my career, I’ve been committed to the creation of welcoming spaces for community music-making, and I’m delighted to step into the role of choir director at the DJC.”

Join us as we sing our way through the year, from the High Holy Days and Shabbat Shirah to Earth Hour, Pride and more. Together we’ll explore the beauty and soulfulness of Jewish music from around the world. We’ll deepen our connection to diverse Jewish cultures, singing in Hebrew, English, Yiddish, Ladino, Judeo-Arabic and more.

The DJC Choir welcomes new members. Join us to connect with community, sing together, and support Jewish spiritual life at the DJC. Interested or have questions? Contact Choir Director, Juliet Palmer at DJCsings@gmail.com.

Juliet Palmer, choir director

Juliet Palmer’s music has come to life under a highway off-ramp, in a swimming pool, in the plastic flotsam of a remote beach and in concert halls across North America, Europe and Oceania. Originally from Aotearoa New Zealand, Juliet makes her home in Tkaronto where she is artistic director of Urbanvessel, a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration. Juliet holds a PhD in composition from Princeton University and an M.Mus in performance, composition and time-based art from Auckland University. She is the winner of the Detroit Symphony’s Elaine Lebenbom Award, a Chalmers Arts Fellow, and a two-time finalist for the Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Prize.www.julietpalmer.ca
