Survey says…

Happy spring/Pesach everyone! Remember that community survey that we did a few months back? Well, 159 of you responded, and here are some highlights of what you told us:

Who are we?

Most survey respondents (84%) were over 40, many of whom have adult children captured under their family memberships. One half of you identified as being part of a multi/interfaith family, almost 30% identify as LGBTQ, about one third are single, and more than half (55%) live outside Riverdale. While 47% have been members for over a decade, an equal number of survey respondents joined the DJC within the past five years.

What activities are we interested in?

Interest was highest in festival celebrations and Jewish learning, but there is also significant interest in social justice, meditation, culture, creative-based programs, as well as LGBTQ and multi-faith events.

How satisfied are we?

Over half of our survey respondents told us they are completely satisfied with the DJC. They also told us that they come to the DJC for all kinds of reasons, from music, to the location, to the sense of inclusive and progressive community that the DJC provides. Of everything at the DJC, satisfaction is strongest for Rabbi Miriam (85% are completely satisfied with our Rabbi!). Some things you told us that we can improve upon are: reaching our young adult members, the High Holy Days services, and binder/prayer book. Most people said they would recommend the DJC and are planning to rejoin next year.

What’s next?

We are in the process of following up with members who indicated they’d like to speak directly to a board member about their feedback, as well as planning a focus group to hear more from our young adult members. This data will be a great help for our strategic planning for the upcoming year and beyond.

For those interested in learning about the full survey results, please stay tuned and plan to join us at the DJC Annual General Meeting on Sunday, June 10.

Sincerely,

The DJC Board of Directors

Amelia, Emma, Hilla, Janice, Josh, Mara, Mindy, Nadya, Shelley, Tammi
