  • 1 min read

We pleased to let you know, we are running a second class in our 2017/2018 B’Nei Mitzvah Program, and we have a few spaces left.  If you’re interested, please contact us ASAP.  Registration deadline is August 1st.

Calling all families who:

  • have a child who will be in Grade 7 in the Fall

  • share the DJC’s values of exploring the rich wisdom and inspiration of Jewish tradition and culture while bringing a progressive lens and contemporary questions and interpretations to our engagement with creative, dynamic Jewish life

  • are interested in a Bar or Bat Mitzvah experience rooted in group learning, hands-on experiences, and family participation

  • are excited about the idea of a group B’nei Mitzvah ceremony

The B’nei Mitzvah class meets weekly with an instructor and together the students explore contemporary and historical issues using Jewish texts, thinkers, and traditions.  Students also participate in field trips, learn with guest teachers (including Rabbi Miriam and Cantor Lisa), and undertake their own Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) project.  The year of learning culminates in a meaningful group ceremony at the DJC in which each student chants from the Torah, offers a D’var Torah, and participates in ritual leadership.

Interested families please contactAlysse Rich for more information by AUGUST 1st.
