MAZEL TOV — THE DJC & CANTOR LISA ARE READY TO GET MARRIED!

After a process that has taken too long, we are thrilled and proud to announce that we have officially been granted the power by the province to authorize our Cantor to solemnize marriages in our community on our behalf.  What this means is that Cantor Lisa will now have the power to officiate at interfaith weddings within our community.

This is a hard-earned and amazing accomplishment that marks an important development in the maturation of our community.  We are thrilled that we are now able to offer this vital service to our amazing and diverse community.

While many helped make this dream become a reality, special thanks are owed to Board Member Michael Morris who worked tirelessly, with patience, persistence, and many, many hours of hard work to get us to this day.  Thanks also to the Board, Rabbi Miriam, and Cantor Lisa for visioning and working to bring this important new practice to our community.  Finally, thanks to our MPP Peter Tabuns, who personally intervened on our behalf in order to overcome what seemed at times to be insurmountable bureaucratic barriers.

But we did it.  Now go forth and marry!
